How to Get There
North along the coast from Mazatlan's center you will arrive to a modern hotel zone. The Gaviotas Beach runs in front of the Hotel Playa Mazatlan to the rocky point of the Hotel Camino Real.
Origin
Gaviotas Beach was virgin beach up until 1955, when the construction of the Hotel Playa Mazatlan was begun. Taking its name from the inland area's title of Gaviotas that today is a large residential zone called Fraccionamiento Gaviotas.
Description
Being one of the sandiest beaches in Mazatlan, Gaviotas also offers its visitors a breathtaking oceanview. Gaviotas Beach is the tourist's favorite so many watersport activities as well as tourist services from the hotels that line the beach provide visitors with restaurants, bars and many other touristical activities.
Activities
Everyone enjoys Gaviota's gentle surf that provides excellent swimming conditions and other recreational activities related to the ocean such as sailing on rented hobie cats, ocean cruising, jet sky rentals, parasailing and scuba diving along the edges of the nearby Tres Islas - islands that can be visited; and much, much more.
Recommendations
It is important to swim in areas where the daily lifeguards can be checking your safety. There are flags that advise the ocean conditions that you can see posted in front of many of the hotels.
