Shopping

Mazatlan is a shoppers heaven. From open air mercados to boutiques or shopping malls, the assortment is varied, and the price is right. The zona dorada is the shopping capital of Mazatlan, but don't stop there; some of your most interesting finds could be off the beaten path. Though the region is not known for any particular handicraft tradition, shops have an ample selection of items from all over Mexico. There is also a downtown "mercado central" that's ideal for browsing and bargain hunting. The following is a list of some of the shops you will find in Mazatlan:

Balboa: Fine gold and silver jewelry at wholesale prices.

Centro de Artesanias Mazatlan: A complete array of fine handicrafts with more than 20 shops; see artisans at work; lots of bartering and activity. Centro Comercial El Mercado: one of the premier shopping venues; fine silver, leather goods, pottery, clothing, and some of the best vanilla you will find in Mexico.

Centro Comercial Las Cabanas: Sea front shopping mall selling almost everything.

Designer's Bazaar: Fine selection of high quality folk art.

El Delfin: Fine jewelry made of 14K and 18K gold, precious and semiprecious stones; Mexican arts and crafts made by some of the country's finest craftsmen.

El Sombrero: Wide selection of handicrafts and jewelry.

La Gaviota: Unique handicrafts of copper, bronze; ceramics and leather items.

Mazatlan Art Gallery: Fine Mexican art and exhibitions of contemporary work.

Pardo Jewelry: Exclusive designs; precious stones and custom settings.

Senor Frog's Official Store: Extensive line of resortwear for the entire family; five locations.

Si Comn No: Mazatlan's oldest gallery of fine art, including originals by Tamayo and Siqueiros.

Tane: A treasure-trove of silver jewelry and handmade antique reproductions.

There are also the usual chain stores, like Aca Joe, Benetton, Bye-Bye, Polo, and Gucci selling resortwear and other fashions.
