Architecture
The picturesque "village" Viejo Vallarta, boasts its own architectural styles. Its attractive cobbled streets and adobe houses Puerto with red-tiled roofs highlight the elegance of the Mexican Colonial style.

One of the things that make Puerto Vallarta stand out is the large number of restaurants where you can enjoy some of the most succulent dishes you will ever taste. National, regional and international cuisine is available at many restaurants.
Ecotourism
The Los Arcos Marine Ecological Reserve, which consists of a group of three rocks islands, is located in front of Mismaloya Beach and is an area where marine birds reproduce as well as being a refuge for marine mammals and a sample of ocean organisms. This marine life can be observed while diving.
Extreme Sports
For those who like strong emotions, one of the best ways of getting a rush of adrenaline is bungee jumping. In Puerto Vallarta, the place to practice this sport is the Paredon.

You can experience an authentic Mexican fiesta here, since it is located in the state of Jalisco, the land of mariachis and tequila.
Fishing
Great deep-sea and freshwater fishing are included among the many attractions at Puerto Vallarta, as this resort is rich in marine fauna. Sailfish, dorado and red snapper fishing are some of the most popular types sport, but the best fishing is done at specific times of the year.
Golf
There are several options for golf enthusiasts in Puerto Vallarta. The Marina Vallarta, the most modern hotel in the region, is about ten minutes from the airport and has a great golf course. Historical Interests
An extraordinary historic event took place on Playa de los Muertos (The beach of the Dead). Many, many years ago at this spot, there was a fight between gold and silver smugglers and the Indians, leaving the beach covered with dead bodies.
Horseback Riding
A great way to see the countryside, ranches, rural villages and hills surrounding Puerto Vallarta is on horseback. Tours of these sorts of places can be arranged in town. On Sundays, there are organized rides lasting a whole day or, if you prefer, small groups are organized to ride through the Sierra Madre mountains and the surrounding areas that last up to several days.
Museums
Various pre-Colombian objects were found at the Puerto Vallarta archeological site and they are now on display at the local Museum of Archeology. If you want to know more about the history and culture of the place, this museum is a must.

Puerto Vallarta has a network of deluxe hotels together with nightclubs on the romantic Paseo de la Marina.

One of the best beaches for water sports in Puerto Vallarta is in the Bahia de Banderas. Some of the best places for diving are: Quimixto, on Las Anima Beach, Punta Mita y los Arcos, near Mismaloya Beach, where there is a submarine reserve made up of small islands, reefs and tunnels that are great for snorkeling.
